Cross-Border Digital Nomad Attraction Comes to Toyama — Ryo Osera Speaks at the Prefecture's Seminar

Toyama, a Prefecture Aiming for "10 Million Happy People"
In Toyama Prefecture — which champions the goal of "#10MillionHappyPeople" to grow its relational population — a new cross-border initiative to attract digital nomads is beginning.
Ryo Osera, CEO of yugyo inc., will speak at a digital nomad seminar hosted by Toyama Prefecture. Osera also serves as a board director of the Japan Digital Nomad Association (JDNA) and has worked on welcoming digital nomads and co-creating with local communities across Fukuoka, Nagasaki, and beyond.
The value of inbound travel should not end with tourism. How can a region move toward regeneration across the barriers of language and culture? Drawing on practices from Fukuoka City and Nagasaki Prefecture, we will think through the next step together with the people of Toyama.
Toyama × Nagasaki: A Joint Session
This seminar takes the form of a joint event between Toyama and Nagasaki prefectures, with an online option. Toyama, now building understanding and conducting research toward welcoming digital nomads, joins Nagasaki, which is deepening Japan's first prefecture-level initiative into its second year. By exchanging insight, two regions at different stages aim to draw out each other's strengths.
Speakers include Chie Nakano, Representative Director of JDNA; Akihiro Matsushita of Linnas Design; and Yuki Nojima of Pasona JOB HUB as moderator. Osera will join a cross-talk on the theme "What kind of region do digital nomads seek — a view from Toyama, Nagasaki, and Fukuoka." He will share field-tested insight on how local residents and industries can spark something new with digital nomads, and what a region should tackle first.
